Jerome R. Eulberg, 85, of Dell Rapids passed away on February 7, 2012 at his home. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 10, 2012 at St. Mary Catholic Church. Interment will be in the St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at Kahler Funeral Home with the Christian Wake Service beginning at 6:30 p.m. The Catholic Order of Foresters Rosary will prayed after the wake service.
Jerome R. Eulberg was born on September 5, 1926 on the family farm northwest of Dell Rapids, the son of Arthur and Sarah (Plathe) Eulberg. He grew up on the family farm and attended country school until the fourth grade. He then went to school at St. Mary School and graduated from St. Mary High School. While a student, Jerome would drive the school bus to and from school. After high school, Jerome was enlisted into the U. S. Army and served in W.W.II. He was discharged after a couple of years and returned home to farm with his mother. Jerome married Luella Dresch on June 3, 1947 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Dell Rapids. The couple made their home on the family farm. In 1994, the couple retired and built their home in Dell Rapids. Jerome remained there until the time of his death.
Jerome was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, The Dell Rapids American Legion Post and the Catholic Order of Foresters. He enjoyed his family, had a strong faith, and enjoyed wood working and going to coffee with his friends.
Jerome was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Betty; three brothers, Marcel, Donald and Jimmy and his granddaughter, Gina.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Luella of Dell Rapids; his children, June (Gary) Sutherland of Pipestone, MN, Peggy (Paul) Sutherland of Brandon, Rita Eulberg-Mavity of Sioux Falls, Vickie (David) Grav of Dell Rapids, Dick (Paula) Eulberg of Dell Rapids, Fred (Gail) Eulberg of Dell Rapids and Gary (Terry) Eulberg of Baltic; his 21 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.
