Frances C. Klein, 97, of Dell Rapids passed away on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at the Dells Area Health Center. Her Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 9, 2016 in St. Mary Catholic Church. Visitation on Friday, July 8, 2016 will begin at 3:00 p.m. in St. Mary Catholic Church. The family will be present from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. with the Christian Wake Service beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Frances Klein was born on February 6, 1919 at Dell Rapids, SD, the daughter of John and Frances Klein. She grew up on a farm in the Dell Rapids area and attended St. Mary Catholic School graduating in 1936. She attended Notre Dame Jr. College in Mitchell for one year. She taught school for four years at the Mount Hope School rural, Dell Rapids. She married Joseph M. Klein on February 18, 1941 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Dell Rapids. They farmed west of Dell Rapids until 1973 when they retired and moved into Dell Rapids. Joe and Frances moved to Orchard Hills in May of 2004.  Joe passed away in June of 2004.  Frances continued to live at Orchard Hills until she moved to Dells Nursing and Rehab Center in June of 2008.

She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and Altar Society.

Frances led by example through her devotion to Christ and the Blessed Mother by attending mass and praying the rosary daily. She enjoyed baking, caring for grandchildren, going for daily walks with her sister and her visits to the library.

She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her four brothers, Clarence, Pete, Art and Bob and her sisters, Matilda Gebhart and Priscilla Klein.

Frances is survived by her five children, Bill (Gayle) Klein, Rose Ann (John) Mousel,  James (Lucy) Klein, Vince (Lynette) Klein and Ronald (Carol) Klein; 22 grandchildren; 66 great-grandchildren; 2 great great-granddaughters; her sister, Mary Ann Klein and her sisters-in-law, Vera Klein and Florence VanVooren.

Memorials may be directed to St. Mary School.
