Raphael V. Schwebach, 92, of Dell Rapids, passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at the Dells Nursing and Rehab Center. His Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 in St. Mary Catholic Church, Dell Rapids. Visitation will begin at noon on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 with a Christian Wake Service beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A Catholic Order of Foresters Rosary will be prayed following the wake service.

Raphael V. Schwebach was born on October 13, 1924 on a farm near Dell Rapids, SD, the son of Phillip and Catherine (Biren) Schwebach.  He grew up on the family farm and attended country school and St. Mary School. He started working with his parents on the family farm east of Dell Rapids starting in the 1940’s. He retired from farming in 1981 but continued to have livestock until 1996. He moved to Orchard Hills in Dell Rapids in 2009 and became a resident of Dells Nursing and Rehab in 2014.

He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Catholic Order of Foresters for 75 years. He marketed livestock for over 40 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his four sisters, Anna, Agnes, Anastasia, and Mary; his five brothers, Michael, James, Philip, Herbert and Norbert; two nephews, Philip Schmidt and Gerald Siemonsma and great nephew, Chad Siemonsma.

Raphael is survived by his many nieces and nephews.
