Sarah, I am so sorry. We are never grown up enough to lose a parent. My favorite memories of your dad (and I have several!):
An OOPS singalong in the big tent by the river with Mayor Peterson.
The time you and Sharon slipped into church just a minute after the hour, and your dad was reading scripture or doing announcements or something, and announced the two of you arriving late! hahaha As I parent I really get a kick out of that now.
What a dear man, who touched so many lives. One of my favorite hometown people. And what a handshake or big hand on your shoulder!
Love and hugs to all of you.

Dorothy,

Sorry for your loss. Ron was such a kind gentle man. We always enjoyed hearing his wisdom he shared, and when he would share a beautiful song to his savior. You and your family are in our prayers.

I was so sorry to hear of Ron's passing, but it made me smile to hear that he was still singing to the Ambulance Crew on the ride home. He and my Dad shared a love of Baseball, Renner Baseball, and all other local sports. I feel as if I always knew him from hanging around Renner and the ballpark as a kid; and from his community presence in Dells and the area as I grew older. His playing and singing were a highlight of any event - beautiful and heartfelt. (And everyone wanted "him to sing at my funeral.") Know that he was loved by many as you mourn & remember!

In sympathy to you, his family, and all of those he touched - Deb Sittig

Dear Family,
We were sorry to hear of Ron's passing. He was a good man and one of many talents. My parents always thought a lot of him. I hope you will be ok with this true story...When I was young and heard Ron sing at a funeral for the 1st time, I told my family that I wanted Ron to sing at my funeral. To that my dad replied, "you better hope he doesn't sing for your funeral kid, as he's at least 30 years your senior!" We are thinking of you at this time of loss and remembrance. Ron was a true friend and mentor as I grew up in Renner. He was a great baseball player and I got to be his teammate and watch him play. He sure hit a lot of homer runs. I was one of Rons early life insurance policy holders and have it today. My children were added to that policy and now there children have been added. So sad to see him leave this world but has earned his heavenly home. He is singing with Jesus today.

Ron was a loving and devoted husband to Dorothy, and loved for his whole family.
My husband and I witnessed Ron as a servant to our Lord in that Ron served lovingly along side Dorothy on the Rosebud Reservation many years. We also enjoyed his proud stories of being Mayor in Del Rapids. We loved Sat. Bible studies at their home where we would get out the Lutheran Hymnal and sing the old favorites! Ron had a great voice, will miss you Ron, but know you're singing in Heavens choir now. Our prayers go out to the whole family, and Dorothy. Douglas and Kathy Gillard.

My condolences to Ron's family. I met him a few years ago in the Two Strike Community here on the Rosebud Reservation. He and Dorothy were very kind and giving of themselves to the community. I was truly impressed by their love.
Shirlene: sorry for your loss. Your dad was a great man and I was fortunate to have met him. I enjoyed our friendship at Augustana College and I can see why you were so kind and courteous. Just know that his work was very much appreciated here on the Rosebud and from those helped and touched in Two Strike.

So sorry to hear of Ron's passing. He truly was as special man and a servant of our Lord. My father Howard much enjoyed serving on the Dell Rapids City Council and church activities with him. Our whole family much appreciated and will never forget Ron coming back to Dell Rapids to sing at both my father and mother's funerals. He had such a beautiful voice and I really enjoyed hearing him sing in Norwegian.
