Bette Kuper

Bette Kuper, 92, of Dell Rapids, passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at Avera McKennan Hospital. Her Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 16, 2023 in St. Mary Catholic Church, Dell Rapids. Visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 15, 2023 at Kahler-Brende Funeral Home. The Christian Wake Service will begin at 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary to follow.

Bette Bunkers was born on November 13, 1931 at Dell Rapids, SD, the daughter of Cleophas and Mary (Moes) Bunkers. She grew up on a farm north of Dell Rapids and attended school at St. Mary Catholic School graduating in 1949. She worked for a short time in Sioux Falls before marrying Lowell Kuper on January 21, 1952 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Dell Rapids. The couple made their home in Dell Rapids. Lowell passed away May 9, 2012.

Bette was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and Altar Society. She loved road trips, South Dakota trivia, fishing, the Minnesota Vikings and Nascar. She loved family gatherings and watching her children sing and play. She was the manager of the Kuper Family Band. Bette had a great sense of humor and loved to receive and send birthday cards.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brothers, Lee Bunkers, Don Bunkers and Henry Bunkers and her son, Kevin.

Bette is survived by her children Steve (Lola) Kuper of Sioux Falls; Dan (Jane) Kuper of Dell Rapids, Jim (Jill) Kuper of Dell Rapids, Lynne Kuper of Dell Rapids, Jeff (Ann) Kuper of Dell Rapids, Rod (Kim) Kuper of White and Tami (Steve) Clark of Dell Rapids; her 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; her extended family and many friends.
