Gerald Snoozy

Gerald “Old Guy” Snoozy, 72, of Dell Rapids passed away in an automobile accident on Wednesday, February 7, 2024. His funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 in the Lutheran Church of Dell Rapids. Interment will be in the Dell Rapids Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at Kahler-Brende Funeral Home.

Gerald Eugene Snoozy was born on  March 5, 1951 in Dell Rapids, SD, the son of Edward and Shirley (Nielsen) Snoozy. He grew up on the family farm west of Dell Rapids. He attended school in Dell Rapids until he started farming with his father. From 1980-2005 he drove truck where he hauled grain for Mallard Seed while continuing to farm. He married Sharon Wold, to this union, seven children were born. The couple later divorced. Gerald was still active in farming with his sons and grandchildren at the time of his death.

Gerald could build or fix anything. He had a deep love for tractors and collected many different types. He had a great sense of humor and was always a kid at heart. He spent countless hours in his shop tinkering.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his children, Richard (Jamie) Snoozy of Dell Rapids, Sarah (Matthew) Edwards of Sioux Falls, Lois Bryan of Baxter Springs, KS, Robert (Angela) Snoozy of Colman, Lori (Tyler) Joppa of Sioux Falls, Sonya (Frank) Schmidt of Sioux Falls and April (Dylan) Joppa of Sioux Falls; his 15 grandchildren, his 5 great-grandchildren; his sisters, Sylvia (Hank) Vogt of Ruthton, MN, Beverly (Dennis) Dekam of Pipestone, MN, Darlene (David) Sparks of CA and Karen (Al) Lange of Pipestone, MN; his extended family, Scott, Lisa and Ray Schoeberl and his nieces, nephews and extended family.
