Raymond “Ray” Eugene Habeger, 69, of Dell Rapids passed away peacefully at Doughtery House in Sioux Falls on Monday, February 12th, 2024 after a battle with lung cancer. His funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at the Reformed Church of Dell Rapids. Visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 16, 2024 at Kahler-Brende Funeral Home.
Ray was born June 7th, 1954 in Madison, South Dakota to Bernard and Coletta (Cunningham) Habeger. He lived in Ramona and attended Ramona High School.
Ray began in the trucking industry soon after high school and fell in love with the industry. Ray married the love of his life Suzanne Swensen of Yankton, SD on June 16th, 1990. Their marriage was blessed by two wonderful children, Jacob and Rose. He found pride in driving trucks and being a great father and husband.
Ray, although having many ups and downs in his walk with Christ, surrendered his life to Jesus in his later teen years. Later in his life, his relationship with Jesus became foundational for all that he did and he loved talking about Jesus’ love and mercy. If you were around him at all you were sure to hear Awesome God by Michael W. Smith in the background.
Ray is survived by his loving wife Suzanne, his two children, Jacob (Ashley) of Dell Rapids, and Rose of Ellendale, ND. Two grandchildren, Will and baby boy (yet to be named). Sister Mary (Clint) Tolley, brothers Bill (Alice), Bob (Vic), and numerous nieces and nephews, all of which he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Coletta, brothers Jerry, John, Jim, and sister Peggy.
