Vincent A. Freiberg, 80, of Saratoga, CA, passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at the El Camino Hospital in Mountain View, CA. His funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 5, 2024 at Kahler-Brende Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the start of the service. Interment will be in the Trent Cemetery.
Vincent A. Freiberg was born on March 21, 1943, the son of Vincent Sr. and Neva Freiberg. He grew up in Sioux Falls and attended Washington High School. He married Beverly Youel on August 13, 1966. The couple moved to California. Vince attended AMI in Los Angeles for auto mechanic. He worked as an auto mechanic until his retirement in 2010. He was known by his friends as the “World’s Best Auto Mechanic.”
He built hot rods, sprint cars, was an auto racer and a cross-country motorcycle racer. He was a downhill skier, loved camping, hunting and fishing. He was a generous man that was always willing to help or share his knowledge.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Vernon, sisters, Rheta and Gloria and his father-in-law, Vernon Youel.
Vince is survived by his wife of 57 years, Beverly of Saratoga, CA; his brother, Bill (Marcene) Freiberg of Sioux Falls; his mother-in-law, Dorcas Youel of Dell Rapids; his sisters-in-law, Barbara Johnson of Big Rapids, MI and LaVonne Youel of Pleasanton, CA; nephew, Fred (Karen) Brower and his many nieces and nephews.
