Evelyn Bastemeyer, 90, of Dell Rapids, passed away on Tuesday, June 13, 2017. Her Memorial Service will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 16, 2017 at Kahler Funeral Home Chapel. Inurnment will be in the Dell Rapids Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the start of the service.

Evelyn was born on October 2, 1926, at Deming, NM, the daughter of Floyd and Angela (Gonzles) Hill. She grew up in New Mexico and moved to California. There she met Cliff Bastemeyer in 1940. The couple married five years later and moved to Dell Rapids in 1945 where Cliff began working for the railroad. The couple then moved to Geddes, SD and Big Stone, SD before returning to Dell Rapids. Evelyn enjoyed horses and her family. Her and Cliff had two children, Stanley J. Bastemeyer a daughter, Linda Rae Cottingham.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Cliff in 2012, an infant son, Stanley, a daughter, Linda Rae in 2012, a grandson, John Kiral and a grandson, Christopher.

She is survived by her son-in-law, Mike Cottingham of Litchfield, MN; her grandchildren, Michelle (Bubba) Clarke of Chesterfield, VA, Travis (Jennifer) Kiral of Warrensburg, MO, Heather Cottingham of Huron and Heidi (Keith) Stroud of Iroquois; twelve great-grandchildren and several great great-grandchildren.
