Julie A. Crawford

Julie A. Crawford passed away peacefully with family by her side Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Ava’s hospice House in Sioux Falls. She was 57. Her Memorial Service will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, March 22, 2019 in the Kahler Funeral Home Chapel, Dell Rapids.

Julie Anne Phelps was born in Sioux Falls, SD, to James M. Phelps and Gwendolyn J. Lottman on November 18, 1961. She attended school in Sioux Falls, SD and received her GED and a Horticulture Degree from Southeastern Technical Institute. Julie was employed in the property maintenance service industry after receiving her degree and worked at Hunter’s Lawn & Landscaping in Sioux Falls, SD. More recently she was employed at The Lakes Lodge in Wentworth, SD.

She was a member of Grace and Truth Ministries and a spiritual person. She was a talented artist and enjoyed writing, music and singing.

She is survived by 3 children, son, Joshua Van Engen (Chantel) of Sioux Falls; daughters, Alecia Menge of Sioux Falls and Autumn Fawcett (Ben) of Edmonton, Alberta Canada; 7 grandchildren, Austin Van Engen and Isabella Hymans; Ashton Menge, Ariana and Devon Edwards; Ava and Ace Fawcett and 1 great grandchild, Maxwell Menge. 3 sisters, June Dammous-Larson (Alan), Melbourne Australia, Jodi McBeth (Michael), Wentworth, SD, Jill Jonnes-Kuca (Mark), Brandon, SD and 2 brothers, Jason Phelps, Sioux Falls, SD and Shannon Hitchen, Seattle, WA. She was married for 6 years to Ronald Crawford, Rock Rapids, IA. Special mention of 2 dear friends John Spoonemoore and Jeff Holgate, both of Sioux Falls, SD.

She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers, Robert Ponto and Jeffrey Phelps.

Julie had a big heart and made a difference in many people’s lives. Her passing leaves a huge void in our lives and we miss her loving smile.
