A huge part of my book of life has closed. Ardith was 19 and I was seven when we first met. Her birthday was one day after mine (more cake!). For the last sixty years I have picked up the phone on that day, heard the familiar sound of her voice and reminisced over past picnics, dear friends and relatives and loving times. She was my mentor and responsible for helping me obtain my first job. Affa was my surrogate grand mother. They are both part of me and who I am. I miss them dearly.
