Betty Jean Benjamin

Betty Jean Benjamin, 90, of Sioux Falls, passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2024 at Avera Prince of Peace in Sioux Falls. Her Funeral Service will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 11, 2024 in the Baltic Lutheran Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the start of the service at the church. Interment will be in the East Nidaros Cemetery, rural Baltic.

Betty Jean Brende was born on January 28, 1934 in the Dell Rapids Hospital at Dell Rapids, South Dakota, the daughter of Ingemar and Ilene (Bruaas) Brende. She grew up in Baltic, South Dakota and graduated from Baltic High School in 1951. After high school she worked as a bookkeeper for Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls. She married Lyle Dean Benjamin on December 28, 1953. The couple lived in Baltic until moving Madison, WI where she worked in the medical field. In 1963, the couple moved back to Sioux Falls before moving to Iowa. In 1976 they moved to Fort Lauderdale, FL until moving to Baltic in 1991. Lyle passed away on February 29, 1992. Betty moved to Sioux Falls in 2003.

Betty is a member of the Baltic Lutheran Church. She enjoyed traveling, doing ceramics, loved music, especially singing. She was an avid dancer.

She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her brother-in-law, Clyde Boyd.

She is survived by her sister and best friend, Donna Lee Boyd of Sioux Falls.
