Cynthia "Cyndi” Haberer

Cynthia "Cyndi" Haberer, 55, of Sioux Falls, passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at the VA Medical Center in Sioux Falls. Her memorial service will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 21, 2023 at the South Dakota State Veterans Cemetery, Sioux Falls.

Cynthia Lucille Haberer was born on March 22, 1968, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, SD, the daughter of Richard and Jonquil Haberer. She moved with her family to Sioux Falls where she graduated from Lincoln High School in 1986. She enlisted in the  U.S. Navy where she served three years. She was very proud of her time in the service. After her discharge, she received her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice in 1997 from Huron University. She was a social worker at Children’s Inn and a corrections officer at the State Penitentiary.

Cyndi was most known as a good friend that continued to stay in contact. She enjoyed collections; Pittsburg Steelers, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Native American books and décor, and gnomes.  She enjoyed spending time with her friends and supporting special causes.
 
She is preceded in death by her mother, Jonquil B. Haberer
 
She is survived by her sister, Dawn Longville; her brothers, Chris Haberer and Anthony Haberer; her sister, Deb Haberer; her nieces, Emily, Delaney, Finley, Oakley and her nephews,  Jonah, Nick, Nathan, Tate, Eli, and Nolan.
