Kari M. Stroschein, 41, of Dell Rapids, SD, passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer.  Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 12, 2014 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Dell Rapids, SD. Visitation on Thursday, September 11, 2014 will be from noon-5:00 p.m. at Kahler Funeral Home and will resume at 6:00 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church. The Christian Wake Service will begin at 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary to follow.

Kari Marie Duhaime was born on August 12, 1973, the daughter of Jerry and Sandy (Pace) Duhaime at Sioux City, IA. She grew up on a farm near Elk Point, SD and attended school in Elk Point. She graduated from Elk Point High School in 1991. After high school she attended SDSU in Brookings, SD where she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Speech Communications in 1994. She then completed her Masters Degree in Speech Language and Pathology from USD in 1996. She married Chad Stroschein on April 20, 1996 at Elk Point, SD. The couple made their home in Atwood, KS, Green Bay, WI and Center Point, IA until settling in Dell Rapids, SD in 2003.

Kari worked as a Speech Language Pathologist for Select Hospital in Sioux Falls for the past several years.

Kari was very committed to her family, especially her children and all of their activities. You would see her many times at a rodeo cheerleading her children on. She was, is, and always will be their biggest fan. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Dell Rapids and P.E.O.

She is survived by her husband of 18 years, Chad Stroschein of Dell Rapids; her children, daughter, Hannah, sons, Drew and Chace all at home; her parents, Jerry and Sandy Duhaime of Elk Point; her brothers, Brent (Melanie) Duhaime of Frisco, TX, Reid (KrisAnne) Duhaime of North Liberty, IA and Ryan (Lynne) Duhaime of Dakota Dunes; her in-laws, Gregg and Gayle Stroschein of Elk Point; her brothers-in-law, Jason (Candace) Stroschein of Altoona, WI and Corey Stroschein of Worthing; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and her many friends.

A Memorial Fund has been established at First National Bank for the children’s college funds.
