Lawrence Pepin Obituary

Lawrence James Pepin of Rollingstone MN (aged 73) died at Avera Hospice House in Sioux Falls SD, while dreaming of fishing with his grandsons and eating chocolate chip cookies with his not so secret ingredient – cream cheese.

From February 21st 1950 thru July 14th 2023 he lived life jawing the ears off anyone who would listen (and even some who wouldn't) with his various tall tales, life adventures, and updates about his kids. A self-professed ladies man he enjoyed riding motorcycles, smoking weed, singing the Eagles song 'Desperado' at Karaoke nights, and watching the Minnesota Vikings attempt to play football.

Raised by James Pepin (deceased) and Elsie (Person) Pepin (deceased) he was quite the handful, watching his uncle Francis Pepin (deceased) race cars and professing to have crashed at least two cars himself during his teen years. He eventually graduated in 1969 from Central High School in Red Wing, MN. To hear him speak of it - the years just after his graduation were filled with parties, drinking, and various escapades; until responsibility struck and he married the mother of his future children Bonnie (Steele Pepin) Pinnerud.

Life was rocky for several years as he struggled, and ultimately learned thru divorce in 1983, that married life just wasn't his forte. He then wandered aimlessly, like the subject of his favorite Eagles song, for decades eventually arriving in the Winona MN area. There he spent several decades before trying his hand at homelessness for a spell. Joining the Rollingstone MN community, he made friends and enjoyed having his own place to lay his head for the last couple months of his colorful life. He was happy to be able to reunite with his classmates for their most recent reunion just before his death.

Lawrence is survived by his daughter Lisa L Pepin, son Benjamin Pepin, daughter in law Tracy (St. Pierre) Pepin, grandsons James Pepin and Steven Pepin, sisters Patricia (Pepin Brudeseth) Krahn and Dianna (Langkand) Tadlock, brothers Greg Langkand and Dave Langkand, one black cat, one basset hound, one dalmatian, and a pack of four huskies.

In lieu of gifts, the family hopes you will consider having a tree planted in his honor.
