Lyle Frederickson Obituary

In loving memory of Lyle D. Frederickson, 78, a cherished resident of Dell Rapids. He peacefully passed away at Ava's House in Sioux Falls on November 16, 2023.  A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 24, 2023, at the Lutheran Church of Dell Rapids. Visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. before the service.

Lyle was born October of 1945 in Dell Rapids, to Andy and Louise Frederickson, the youngest of five children. He attended country school in Chester, SD and graduated from Dell Rapids High School in 1964. In 1965, Lyle enlisted in the United States Navy, serving honorably in Vietnam until 1969, achieving the rank of Petty Officer Second Class (E-5) Boatswain’s Mate (BM2).

On February 11, 1967, Lyle married Norene Pierret in Dell Rapids and celebrated 56 years together. They established their home in Dell Rapids, raising four children and co-owning Dakota Greenhouse and Tree Service and Dells City Greenhouse. In addition to his military service, Lyle's diverse career included owning Allied Blueprint, and working at Mathison's, Dressen Trailer, and several bars in Dell Rapids. Lyle was a member of the Lutheran Church of Dell Rapids, VFW, and American Legion.

His retirement brought out his passion for woodworking, creating heartfelt crafts for family and friends. His love for orchids, irises, lilies and gardening was evident in his vibrant flower collection. Together, Lyle and Norene embraced winters in Florida, creating lasting memories with their youngest daughter's family.

Lyle is survived by his wife, Norene, and children: Tammy (Rick) Huntimer, Tina (Dennis) Giese, Chris (Matt) Weigelt, Andrew Frederickson, and his sister Wanda Lindholm. Lyle leaves behind a legacy of love. Grandchildren: Tanner (Angela) Schrank, Shawn (Chloe) Giese, Devan Schrank, Olivia (Clay) Flesner, Jessica Huntimer, Drew (Adri) Weigelt, Katie Weigelt, and Keegan Weigelt along with great-grandchildren: Gracyn, Jaxson, Samuel, Jameson, Theo, and Nora, and many extended family and friends carry his spirit forward.

Lyle is preceded in death by his parents, sister Lois Haugaard, brothers Maynard and Derry, and grandson Nicholas Giese.

Lyle will be remembered for his dedication to family, community, being a proud Navy Veteran, and his passion for woodworking and gardening.
