Ramona Huppert

Ramona Huppert, 83, of Amery, WI, passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2025 at Ava's House in Sioux Falls. In honoring Ramona's wishes, no services will be held. Inurnment will take place at the Dell Rapids Cemetery at a later date.

Ramona was born to Lloyd and Virginia (Loucks) Peterson. She was the oldest of five girls which included triplet sisters. She graduated Valedictorian of the Class 1959 from Trent, SD High School and earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Chemistry from South Dakota State University. She retired from 3M in St. Paul after 34 years in their technical library system. Ramona married James Huppert on June 10, 1973. After retirement they lived on Lake Bear Trap near Amery, Wisconsin, enjoyed traveling and wintering in Arizona. They enjoyed traveling together in their RV and were members of the Apple River Drifters and she was also a “Red Hat Lady.” She enjoyed reading and doing the daily puzzles in the paper. Her vegetable and flower gardens were always exceptional.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband James; daughter Deborah (Jimmy) Peiker of Labolt SD; sons Layne (Patty) Merritt of Fort Worth, TX and Steve (Vicky) Huppert of River Falls, WI; and sisters Virginia Hill of Baltic, SD and Gwen Amen of Laporte, MN. She also had 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Ramona was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters Rhoda and Andrea.
