Robert J. Fiegen, 87, of Renner, passed away on September 10, 2022. His Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 19, 2022 in the Cathedral of St. Joseph in Sioux Falls. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. with the Christian Wake service beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Kahler-Brende Funeral Home on Sunday, September 18, 2022. Interment with Military Rites will be in the St. Mary Cemetery, Dell Rapids.
Robert (Bob) Fiegen was born December 17, 1934, in Renner, South Dakota to Laurence and Theresa (Bowar) Fiegen. Bob graduated from St. Mary's Catholic School in Dell Rapids in 1952. Bob enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1954. Bob served as an M.P. for three years in San Diego, CA and was honorably discharged in 1957. Bob returned to the Renner, SD area beginning his career in the agriculture business managing grain elevators and selling seed, feed, and other ag related products. Bob managed cooperative elevators in Renner, SD, Adrian, MN, Garvin, MN, Wood Lake, MN, Corson, SD and Egan, SD. Bob also sold Pete‘s Feed, Zip Feed, and other ag products. Bob finished his working career with Qualified Presort in Sioux Falls after 17 years of service. In October 2017 Bob officially retired at the ripe old age of 84 years young!!!
On August 30, 1958, Bob was united in marriage to Janet Thompson and together they had four children. Bob and Janet worked hard their entire lives and enjoyed many activities, such as music, dancing, boating, and camping.
Bob was a member of the Cathedral and enjoyed sharing his time and talent as an usher for many years. Bob was also a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters for 50+ years. Bob was a member of the Dell Rapids American Legion Honor Guard as well as calling BINGO. Bob also enjoyed watching western movies, listening to old time country music, wood working, camping, fishing, and traveling to historic sites.
Bob is survived by his children; Troy (Nancy) Fiegen of Clarkfield, MN, Tyrone (Shelley) Fiegen of Cary, NC, Daughter-in-Law Diane Fiegen of Marshall, MN; grandchildren Kassidi Fiegen of Eden Prairie, MN, Karissa Fiegen of Marshall, MN and Ryan Fiegen of Cary, NC; sister Cecelia (Bob) Bunkers of Pipestone, MN), Chuck (Linda) Fiegen of Dubuque, IA; sister-in-law, Rayma Fiegen of Valley City, ND; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Bob is reunited in heaven with his parents; loving wife, Janet; children David and Laurie and siblings, Dick Fiegen, Jeanette Penning and Sister Catherine Fiegen.
