Virgil L. Anderson

Virgil L. Anderson, 84, of Dell Rapids, passed away on Friday, September 29, 2023 at the United Living Community in Brookings. His funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 5, 2023 in The Reformed Church of Dell Rapids. Interment will be in the Dell Rapids Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October, 4, 2023 at Kahler-Brende Funeral Home.

Virgil was born on November 17, 1938 to Frances and Orlando Anderson. He attended Pleasant Prairie Country School for eight years. He graduated from Dell Rapids High School in 1956. He married Lorene Fulton on October 6, 1957. They farmed east of Dell Rapids for 42 years. In 2000, they retired into Dell Rapids. He kept very active golfing, delivering meals on wheels, spending coffee time with his buddies at T and C and helping on the farm. Virgil and Lorene purchased a home in AZ meeting many friends and played pool with a special friend Virgil. They moved to Brookings in September of 2022. He became a resident of United Living Center in October of 2022.

Virgil was a member of the Dell Rapids Reformed Church.  He served on the church board and the Dell Rapids Cemetery Board. He put the flags up at the cemetery for veteran funerals and special holidays.

He is survived by his wife, Lorene of Brookings; his children, Karen (Graydon) Dailey of Spearfish, Rick (Laura) Anderson of Dell Rapids,  Connie (Bob) Hansen of Dell Rapids, Christie (Bill) Hardin of Brookings and Dennis (Jill) Anderson of Dell Rapids; his 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

His top priority was with his grandkids and their special events.

Virgil was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Allen.
