Neal L. Jacobson, 95, of Sioux Falls, formerly of Bryant, passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Society Village in Sioux Falls. His funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Miller Funeral Home West Chapel. Visitation with family present will be from 5:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at Miller Funeral Home West Chapel.

Neal Loren Jacobson was born on October 1, 1920 to Lawrence (L.A.) and Grace (Spilde) Jacobson in Bryant, SD. Neal grew up in Bryant, SD. He attended school and graduated in 1938 from Bryant High School. He continued his education and graduated with a business degree in 1942 from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD.

After receiving his education, Neal was drafted into the United States Air Force in September of 1942 to serve during WWII. He was stationed in England with the 335th Bombardment Squadron for two and a half years until the end of the war in Europe. He was honorably discharged in September 1945. Following his military service, he returned to Bryant where he joined the Bryant State Bank and met Norma Thompson. They were married 58 years from July 27, 1947 until Norma’s death in 2005. Together they raised their three children Lee, David and Nancy in Bryant.

Neal worked 50 plus years for the Bryant State Bank until his retirement. He served for many years as President and Chairman of the board and continued his service to the Bank as Chairman, Emeritus.

Neal was a lifetime member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bryant, SD and an associate member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, SD. He was a member of the American Legion Post #37 and the Masonic Lodge. He served on many boards and committees as a member of the Bryant community. These included Chairman of the bank board, Our Redeemer Lutheran Church building board, Parkview Care Center board, Bryant Development Corporation board, Bryant Clinic board, and Bryant School board. Neal was a member of the South Dakota Bankers Association and the Independent Bankers Association of America (IBAA). He served on the Executive Council of the IBAA.

Neal and Norma enjoyed their retirement years during the winter months in Sun City, AZ. Since 2004, Neal has made his home in Sioux Falls, SD.

On Sunday, September 18, 2016, Neal died at the Good Samaritan Village in Sioux Falls, SD. He was 95 years old.

Neal was deeply devoted to his family. His family, grateful for having shared in his life, included his two sons, Lee and his wife, Jan Jacobson of Sioux Falls and David and his wife, Carol Jacobson of Dakota Dunes, SD; his daughter, Nancy Jacobson of Sioux Falls; his five grandchildren, Bret and his wife, Shauna, Brad and his wife, Shannon, Paul, Philip and Nicole; his four great grandchildren, Logan, Sam, Reese, and Riley and a host of relatives and friends.

Preceding Neal in death are his wife, parents, and sister, Delores Woldt.
